Gilat
Gilat sells, develops and markets Satellite communication solutions that are used by service providers world wide. Selling these solutions require a lot of technical knowledge that is used to offer a customized solution per network. Several excel files where composed in order to assist sales people to concentrate on their work. These files used to include hundreds of different components and complex formulas that assist in creating the correct configurations. On the other side, the production stuff used to manage their own configuration tables and files that used some other database. As customer service people usually handle orders for network upgrades and scaling, they developed their own set of files, tools and tables to manage the complex solutions and products. Obviously all this, with many non-controlled tools and off-line tools – led to many problems and difficulties that grew over time.

A decision was taken in the company to develop one centrally On-line tool that will be used by all departments – and "the Configurator" was born. Now Sales people are using a Web based application to access the on-line customer-database, and quotes are created from there. Engineering department is using the same tool and database for producing exact configurations and BOM. Finance and Production department use information gathered in the DB to create accurate forecasts of required components. And Customer service uses the same Configurator for generating on-going offerings for customer requests.

The bottom line comes to the fact that Gilat customers, enjoy a faster and much more accurate response to their requirements and needs.

Maccabi
Background
Maccabi Healthcare Services is the second largest HMO in the Israel providing all-inclusive health services based on a decentralized organizational approach. Maccabi members benefit from access to over 3500 physicians, 150 branches, 250 diagnostic centers, 600 pharmacies and public & private hospitals and facilities.

Challenge
The integration of the entirety of Maccabi's information systems has led to a digital information overload. Maccabi had no procedures in place to assist in the filtration of the vast amounts of data and few means by which to incorporate facts and figures. Atypical circumstances went by and large unnoticed while Maccabi practitioners and care givers, barely received any online recommendations or alerts to support their decision making process and were left to rely merely on their expertise.

Solution
Clinical, as well as administrative, alerts & recommendations for any Maccabi member, are provided by MediRule. MediRule assists staff in making the correct treatment and medication choices based on medical history while guaranteeing strict adherence to care and medication policy. MediRule helps eliminate the human error factor and provides an added layer of caution necessitated by the ever rising healthcare expenses and malpractice insurance rates. In addition, MediRule effectively evaluates eligibility up front, enabling Maccabi to determine insurance coverage, services entitlement and the deductibles and co-pays of the policy.

Results
MediRule has presented Maccabi with real-time alerts & recommendations for the provision of crucial insights derived from the EMR. MediRule affords each directory (diabetes, hypertension, eating disorders etc.) with a relevant set of rules resulting in specific, personalized guidelines. Furthermore, in instances of prescribed medications, MediRule carries out contra-indicator inspections, raising all potential medication exclusions.

MediRule is maintained by non technical personnel (physicians and administrative personnel) and has facilitated Maccabi in maintaining an optimum relationship with its patients. MediRule has significantly improved Maccabi's quality of healthcare for a better and healthier future, providing preventive healthcare as well as dramatically superior cost effectiveness.

Clalit
Background
Clalit Health Services is one of the largest HMOs in the world providing comprehensive health services to approximately 3.8 million clients in Israel through a decentralized organization comprised of 14 hospitals, 1200 clinics and medical centers, 80 medical labs and 35 imaging institutions.

Challenge
As thousands of services are required daily and as the knowledge regarding patient eligibility for service depends on numerous parameters and changes in accordance with organizational policy, Clalit received incoherent eligibility for service data which was open to differing interpretations. Furthermore, Clalit had no means by which to audit hospitalization bills received from medical clinics other than their own. Clalit organizations had no control over the decision making process whereas any new knowledge (medical, organizational & other) deployment became lengthy and difficult, requiring software expert maintenance.

Solution
The eligibility conditions for any Clalit service, as well as hospitalization bill audit, are implemented using MediRule. The eligibility rules and bill audit rely on interactive dialogue and several parameters: patient demographic data (age, gender etc.), patient medical history, patient insurance type, previous medical services provided, Clalit eligibility rules and other sources of data. MediRule provides Clalit with online, on-demand, aggregation and integration of information components from dispersed sources and their transfer in real-time to authorized users.

Results
MediRule has enabled Clalit with an efficient and timely process for determining patient eligibility of service. Clalit now possesses homogenous information in all of its centers. This knowledge is shared between all users while new rules are easily and instantly deployed by Clalit users. MediRule has significantly improved Clalit's quality of service towards its patients while preventing the false provision of medical services, potential lawsuits and loss of patients. In addition, MediRule provides Clalit with a budget control & management tool aimed at verifying accuracy of hospitalization periods as well as eliminating unnecessary examinations and treatments given during hospitalization.
MediRule is utilized by Clalit CSRs (customer service representatives) as well, in order to respond to patients calling to inquire about their eligibility for certain services as well as for cross selling – offering additional related medical services.
MediRule is maintained by non technical personnel and has dramatically improved cost effectiveness, quality of service and patient satisfaction within Clalit Health Services.

The Ministry of Finance
Challenge
Establishment of pension rights was done through a long, highly complex, manual process in which the central issue was determining the pension rights for each individual. The government's Rule Book includes hundreds of rules, and it became clear that many other factors impact the decision in over 80% of the cases: informal interpretations of rules that accumulated over the years, court decisions, precedents, government policies, executive decisions, etc. None of these factors were documented in an organized way, which led to poor service to pensioners and dependence on a small number of government employees to make the calculations based on formal and informal factors.

Solution
'Logist' as a decision support system for defining pension rights, with all the formal rules and additional knowledge, clearly defined a solution in natural language as Logist rules. The system warns the user of exceptions or of the need for additional information before establishment of pension rights for an individual. Based on the availability of prior information, the system reviews pension rights, which were previously granted, as well as processing all new requests for pension rights.

Leumi Bank
Challenge
The bank management every year deals with the employees' unions regarding different employment and salary terms and conditions. The bank employees are employed under a collective employment agreement and there was a need to evaluate the unions' demands in terms of total cost for the bank.

Solution
Logist was implemented as a Salary Simulator. All the employment agreements were implemented as rules in Logist in natural language. The bank management can run a simulation of employees' demands for a raise, promotion, retirement terms, etc. The bank can evaluate the overall cost of every demand and salary addition of every sector and can control the negotiation with the unions.
